Conditions of the Competition
The “Dilijan Forte” Classical Music International Competition is open for pianists and string and wind players, regardless of citizenship and nationality, in two categories: 1st category aged at least 8 and no older than 12 years and 2nd category aged at least 12 and no older than 16 years on the date of the opening ceremony of the Competition (June 1, 2024).
The “Dilijan Forte” Classical Music International Competition consists of a Pre-Selection Stage (preliminary audition of submitted video materials) and two rounds: the 1st Round and the 2nd Round (Final).
60 participants will be selected to participate in the 1st Round of the Competition following the Pre-Selection Stage audition (in each age category of each profession, 10 participants). 30 participants (in each age category of each profession, 5 participants) will be selected to participate in the 2nd Round.
The Jury reserves the right to withhold a winning place altogether or share a place among candidates. The Jury's decision is final and is not subject to appeal.
After resuming the results of the 1st and 2nd Rounds, a discussion session with Jury members will be organised for participants who are not selected for the next round. Jury members will be briefed on each participant's performance.
All pieces must be performed from memory in all rounds of the Competition.
The performance program submitted by the participant may not be changed throughout the Competition. Meanwhile, all participants can determine the sequence of the pieces they perform in the 1st and 2nd Rounds.
The candidate for the strings and wind profession must be accompanied by a pianist during the performances in the 1st and 2nd Rounds. The competition can provide accompanist pianists for contestants, but this should be indicated in the application form. During each round, contestants are given 2 hours for rehearsal with the accompanist free of charge.
A performance dress code is instituted for the participation of all rounds.
The Competition must provide the contestants with a warm-up room 30 minutes before their performances during each round.
The participants' appearance order shall be determined by randomly drawn lots and maintained until the end of the Competition.
All Rounds of the Competition are open to the public.
The Contestants' performances will be broadcast online. The live broadcast will be available online until the last Contestant’s performance ends on each competition day. Upon the competition's end, only the prizes-winning Contestants' performances will be available online. The rights for the overall broadcast of the Competition and its rounds, as well as all audio and video recordings and the rights to their further use, belong to the Competition and are made available to the participants per their request only. Participants of the Competition are not allowed to use or make available to third parties the video recordings of their performances unless written permission is granted by the Competition.
All finalists of the Competition are required to give performances with no financial remuneration at the closing ceremony and the laureates’ concerts of the Competition.

The deadline for submitting the applications is April 1, 2024.
The Competition reserves the right to reject an application which does not meet the regulations of the Competition. Additional information may be required from the participant if necessary.
By applying to participate in the Competition, the candidates consent to participate in all rounds by the Jury’s voting.
During the admission of applications, the Competition collects personal information regarding the participants for specific procedural requirements of the Competition. Personal data is stored in a reliable database. Only the following details about the participants are subject to publishing: First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth, Place of Birth, Nationality, Biography, Photos, Personal website, and social media profiles. The participants may view their details and make changes in written form.
By submitting, the candidates confirm their acceptance of all conditions of the Competition.
The Competition's organising committee reserves the right to make certain adjustments to the Rules no later than one month before the launch of the 1st Round of the Competition (1 June 2024).
Selection of Candidates
All candidates must submit a link (or several links) of video recordings of their performances (with a minimum duration of 15 minutes). For the Pre-Selection Stage of the Competition, the candidates must present one or several compositions written for solo and piano/orchestra.
The compositions presented during the Pre-Selection Stage audition can also be performed during the next two rounds of the Competition.
Videos should be uninterrupted and/or edited during each piece's whole performance. Only videos made after July 6, 2023, shall be accepted. The application form should include the exact title list of the compositions to be submitted for audition, with indications of the date and duration of the video recordings.
Candidates will be informed of being transferred to the 1st Round of the Competition via email. The results of the Pre-Selection Stage will be announced on the Competition website on April 20, 2024
Information for foreign participants
After receiving the invitation, foreign participants should apply to the Armenian Embassy or Consulate in their respective countries for a visa, if required. Visas may also be obtained at the Zvartnots International Airport in Yerevan. Throughout the entire competition, participants will receive complimentary hotel accommodations and meals. The Competition does not cover the accommodation and meal expenses for any accompanying person(s) (including the accompanists).
